Gunpowder is relatively uncommon in the Empire, though it does exist. This type of weaponry is mainly favoured by the Dwarves, as they are master craftsmen able to manufacture more accurate firearms than any other race can produce. Their preference for firearms is also indicated by their magical ineptitude. Due to the unstable nature of firearms, guns, muskets, and any weapon requiring gunpowder cannot be enchanted like most other available weapons can be. Since the Dwarves rarely enchant their weapons anyway, this does not really matter to them.
Other races on the other hand have a much better ability to imbue weapons with magical energies making an enchanted crossbow much more effective than a blunderbuss. Traditional ranged weapons are also much cheaper to produce and maintain. As such, in the Empire, gunpowder is rarely used for anything other than fireworks, though some amongst the nobility have a small collection of these weapons as a show of their wealth.
